Kelie Bowman is a painter, muralist, art organizer, printmaker and book artist. Kelie was born in 1979 in Clearwater, Florida. Bowman received a BFA from the University of Florida in creative photography and electronic intermedia. Kelie Bowman has exhibited internationally and has artist books in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, The New York Public Library, National Museum of Women in the Arts, The Walker Art Center and other prestigious institutions. Commissions include murals at the Facebook office in NYC and the Eau Claire Visitors Center in Wisconsin. In 2015, Kelie was awarded a Housing Works and Urban Development Grant to paint a mural at the Minnehaha city park in Maitland, Florida. In 2019, Kelie was awarded a grant with NYC Health + Hospitals Arts in Medicine, with support from the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund and the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City to work on the community murals project at Coney Island Hospital. The aim of the program is to use a collaborative mural-making process as a tool to build trust and engagement between the hospitals and their communities. In early 2020, Kelie was commissioned to create 3 paintings for a new women’s wing at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

In Kelie’s role as Director and Founder of Cinders Gallery, (initially a Brooklyn, NY bricks-and-mortar venue and later a virtual site), she staged over 100 exhibitions in New York City and internationally. Cinders Gallery specialized in exhibitions, site-specific installations, community events and promoting emerging artists and artist books. Cinders Gallery shows were featured in several publications including the New York Times and Art Forum.

Kelie is also part of the collaboration Light Hits, where she create installations, music, and videos with the artist Jessie Rose Vala.
